At Flinders Aquatic Academy, we understand that every swimmer is unique. Whether you're new to swimming lessons or have previous swimming experience, our assessment lesson ensures that your child is placed in the most suitable level for their skills and goals. Children under 3 years will not require an assessment.

For New Swimmers:
If your child is new to swimming, an assessment is designed to evaluate your child's comfort in the water, basic aquatic skills, and overall confidence. Our experienced instructors will guide your child through a series of activities to assess which level will best support their individual skills and confidence level, and allow them to continue to learn and progress. 

For Experienced Swimmers:
For those who have swum before, our assessment takes into account previous swimming experience and skills. We'll evaluate stroke techniques, endurance, and skills. This ensures we place you in a level that can support, challenge and enhances your child's abilities.

 

Can we skip the assessment?

Another approach is to assess the appropriate level based on your child's previous swimming experience. We'll need to discuss their past experience, confidence, skills, and any levels they have previously achieved. This helps us place your child in the level that best matches the description you provide. A trial lesson will be conducted at this level, and if our instructors find it unsuitable, we will adjust the class for future lessons.
